Beta Expectations


General

  • – The base free Champions have been updated. New players will have the following Champions unlocked for free: Ruckus, Jenos, Viktor, Lex, and Cassie.
    • Existing players will be granted the previous free Champions in addition to the new free Champions.
  • – TDM and Onslaught have been merged into a single Queue.
  • – The Frontline Pack will be disabled with OB66.
  • – Chest Keys have been removed from the game.
    • Crystal refunds will be given to anyone that has keys in their inventory.
  • – Daily Quests and Daily Champion Chest status added to the Home screen
  • – Reduced Team Deathmatch preparation time from 45s to 20s
  • – Big improvements to third person perspective. Many improvements and issues were addressed. Here are the major items of note:
    • Mounted camera has been brought further back
    • Fixed issue where Champion was not facing in the correct direction when firing and mounted
    • Repositioned camera when using aim down sights
    • Doubled up audio cues have been fixed
  • – Quests
    • Champion Quest now appears on the right hand side
  • – Added music for Queue Pop timer
  • – Added the Option to Dismiss all acquisition popups

The Cards Unbound system has been removed from the game.

Overview

  • – Players will receive Gold and VIP Points for extra copies of cards from the Unbound system
  • – Players now have all loadout cards unlocked at the start
  • – Cards now have 5 levels instead of 10
  • – Players will create their Loadouts with a 15 Point System

Compensation 

Developer Comments: With the removal of Cards Unbound, we will be compensating players the Gold equivalent for all duplicate cards acquired through Radiant and Champion Chests. As an added bonus, we’ll be awarding players VIP Points for their duplicate cards. With the removal of various Card Chests, all Paladins players will start on an even playing field in all of our game modes, with no more grind or monetization around loadout card acquisition.

  • – Players will receive the following for each card duplicate they have acquired
    • 625 Gold per Duplicate

      • The Day 7, 14, 21, 28 Rewards are being changed from 1 Radiant Chest to 25 Crystals
    • Strix Skin Bundle Refund
      • Players who purchased the Strix Skin Bundle will receive a partial refund with the removal of Champion and Legendary Champion Chests
        • 300 Crystals if purchased with Crystals
        • 47,500 VIP Points if purchased with VIP Points
    • Terminus Skin Bundle Refund
      • Players who purchased the Terminus Skin Bundle will receive a partial refund with the removal of Champion and Legendary Champion Chests
        • 200 Crystals if purchased with Crystals
        • 32,000 VIP Points if purchased with VIP Points

Price Changes 

Developer Comments: In this patch, numerous gameplay systems have been adjusted to award players with Gold instead of Radiant Chests, and there will be no more card grind through Radiant and Champion Chest purchases. Players will now be earning Gold at a significantly higher rate, so we have adjusted the prices around in game content to match. Even with the price increases, Free2Play players will now unlock content at a faster rate with the Gold acquisition adjustments.

Champions

  • – Champions priced at 5,000 Gold/150 Crystals now cost 15,000 Gold/100 Crystals
  • – Champions priced at 7,500 Gold/200 Crystals now cost 30,000 Gold/200 Crystals
  • – Champions priced at 12,500 Gold/200 Crystals now cost 60,000 Gold/300 Crystals

Voice Packs

  • – All Champion Voice Packs: 7,125 Gold/25 Crystals changed to 15,000 Gold/25 Crystals

Mastery Cosmetics

  • – Mastery Sprays: 7,500 Gold/60 Crystals changed to 15,000 Gold/60 Crystals
  • – Mastery Emotes: 7,500 Gold/60 Crystals changed to 15,000 Gold/60 Crystals
  • – Mastery Poses: 5,000 Gold/40 Crystals changed to 10,000 Gold/40 Crystals
  • – Obsidian Skins: 20,000 Gold/160 Crystals changed to 30,000 Gold/160 Crystals

Gameplay Systems

Developer Comments: There are significant changes to the Champion Mastery Progression system this patch. Players will now unlock their Talents (previously Legendary Cards) through playing their Champions and leveling them up. This design is focused on giving a rewarding progression system to players as they unlock new ways to play their Champions, laying out a clear path to teach them the fundamental systems inside Paladins. We also made major adjustments to Champion Mastery Level experience rates with this is mind. Players will be unlocking more, faster. Much Faster. We don’t want new players to feel like it is a grind to unlock all their talents, but a natural process that comes from playing a Champion. If you’re a current player, don’t worry about not having access to a talent, you will receive all talents regardless of Champion Mastery Levels with the release of OB67! 

Card Point Systems

  • – All players have access to all loadout cards.
  • – Legendary cards are unlocked via Champion Mastery thresholds.
  • – Loadout cards have 5 levels.
  • – The power of a lvl 5 card is the same as a lvl 10 in Unbound.
  • – Legendary cards no longer have levels.
  • – Players build decks that consist of 5 loadout cards and combined level of 15.
  • – Players have 1 starter deck filled out that they can do with as they please.
    • Starter decks consist of 5 level 3 cards determined by the Deck Item.

Legendary Cards and Champion Mastery

  • – Legendary Cards have been renamed to “Talents” and will now be unlocked through Champion Mastery System at levels 2, 8, and 12.
    • All Champions will have one default Talent.
    • Players with existing accounts will automatically have all Talents available to them
  • – Removed Level 25 Mastery Cap
    • Players have no limit on Champion Mastery Levels
  • – Redistributed Mastery Level XP Rate to match account XP Rate.
    • Players will now level through Champion Mastery and receive Champion Mastery Unlocks Quicker
  • – Players will now be able to purchase Champion Mastery Levels for Gold at a rate of 1,000 Gold for 20,000 Experience.
    • Players must have enough Gold to purchase the next level

Account Rewards

With the removal of Radiant Chests, players will now be rewarded 2500 Gold for each level of account progression.

First Win of the Day

With the removal of Radiant Chests, players will now earn 300 gold for each First Win of the Day in the following Queues:

  • – Siege
  • – Competitive
  • – Deathmatch

Daily Login Bonus

With the removal of Radiant Chests, players will now receive 25 Crystals for every 7th consecutive daily login.

Tutorial Reward

With the removal of Radiant Chests, players will now receive 25,000 Gold for completing the tutorial.

Quests

We have lowered the requirements for all Daily Gold Quests. Daily Crystal Quests will remain the same.


Bug Fixes

General

  • -Fixed a rare case where players could select another Champions Legendary after reconnecting to a match.
  • -Fixed a rare case where players could select a new Loadout after reconnecting to a match.
  • -Fixed an issue where the Reveal Mechanic would not properly reveal through Blinds.
    • Developer Comments: There are further inconsistencies with the Reveal mechanic that will be addressed in OB68.
  • -Tutorial no longer directs players to the Chest Screen after completion.
  • -Fixed an issue where players could briefly respawn invisibile in rare instances.
  • -Fixed an issue where players could appear completely invisible in rare instances.
  • -Fixed an issue where players could be stuck in their Stealth Mesh in rare instances.
  • -Sweeping 3P fixes and improvements across the board to enhance the shooting experience.
  • -Fixed a bug where sometimes the Open Again button would not unlock when its lockout timer expired
  • -Fixed an issue where the Death Recap would not display if a players Skill Bar was not centered.
  • -Fixed an issue where the Ult Preview Sound Button on the Champions Ability page would not play.
  • -Fixed an issue where some abilities had their text cut off in the Abilities tab of the Champion menu.
  • -Removed the purchase button for the Frostmare Mount and Zhin Barbarian Skin.
  • -Updated the Paladins logo on the Login Screen.
  • -Updated several outdated UI descriptions.
  • -Updated several outdated loading tips.
  • -Added a timeout message if a loadout fails to be imported.
  • -Re-enabled the option to Import decks.
  • -Updated First Win of the Day text to accurately reflect the Gold earned.
  • -Fixed an issue with end of match lobby, where players credits and items would not display accurately.
  • -Fixed a bug where “Total Wins” on the profile screen could have the incorrect number of wins
  • -Fixed a bug where sometimes multiple instances of the VFX and SFX of opening a chest would appear
  • -Fixed a bug where the number of displayed in the Diamond and Gold Chests would differ between the Chests screen and the Chest Details screen
  • -Fixed a bug where when in queue Team Deathmatch would overlap the queue timer.
  • -Fixed a bug where the legendary selection screen would appear in spectate and never go away.
  • -Fixed a bug where the Rooster Brewster was misaligned in the weapon preview screen.
  • -Fixed a bug where the CC immunity glow would show a rectangle on some characters at some angles.
  • -Fixed an issue with a message that displayed at the end of the Champion’s quest.
  • -Fixed a bug with the “Obtain VIP Points” daily quest so that it now indicates that VIP points from any source will count.
  • -Fixed a bug with player name positioning on the Profile screen.
  • -Fixed a display issue that truncated “The Insane” title
  • -Fixed a bug where the back button was not working on the competitive and leaderboard screens.
  • -Fixed a bug where the legendary Icon was displayed on the scoreboard before a player had picked a legendary.
  • -Fixed a bug where in Bound mode cards incorrectly indicated that they could still be leveled further.
  • -Fixed a bug where chickens could reload, which is impossible because they don’t have opposable thumbs.
  • -Fixed a bug with the name display of Evie and Zhin’s golden weapons.
  • -Fixed a bug where mounting up while already in 3rd person would cause the camera to pop forwards.
  • -Fixed a bug where sometimes the champion icon would not display on a card when looting it from a radiant chest.
  • -Addressed an issue where sound effects could loop for Mending Spirits, Ancient Rage, and Immortal.
  • -Fixed an issue where the movements of other players were sometimes jittery.
  • -Fixed a bug where legendary card icons would not show in the end of match lobby loadouts screen or the match history.
  • -Fixed a bug where the Champion Title would display multiple times as a mastery reward.
  • -Fixed a bug where players could select a new loadout by disconnecting and reconnecting to a match.
  • -Fixed a bug where weapon shots would false-fire immediately after dismounting.

  • -Fixed a bug where some first person only camera effects would be visible in third person.
  • -Fixed a bug where emotes, Ice Block, and other rotationally locked abilities would rotate on other clients when the player using the ability spins their camera.
  • -Fixed a bug where, when the server stops the client from firing, client was unable to try firing again.
  • -Material enhancements for Androxus and Tyra Gold Weapons.
  • -Fixed an issue where sprays would sometimes not appear.
  • -The in-game item shop now updates your credits count even while open.
  • -Fixed an issue where the Notification Volume setting would not reduce the out-of-game Match Ready notification sound.
  • -Match History should now include all game modes and custom games, but not training matches.
  • -Fixed an issue where in some cases you could spectate the enemy team
  • -Team Deathmatch and Onslaught Matches will now properly display in your profile history.
  • -Fixed an issue where the the incorrect icon was displaying on the the Champion Customization bar during Champion select.
  • -Fixed an issue where upon reaching certain mastery levels, an incorrect notification would display.
  • -Applied glue to the Feather on the Genie chest so the wind stops knocking it over.

  • – Fixed a bug where sometimes Buck would T-Pose when hitting a wall during Heroic Leap.

Evie

  • -Fixed an inconsistent delay in Evie’s blink.**

  • -Fixed a wording issue for Evie’s Ice Storm.

Fernando

  • -Fixed a bug where Fernando’s Shield wouldn’t be canceled when affected by some Crowd Control abilities, such as Fear. **
  • -Fixed a bug where the visual effect for Fernando’s Shield would last longer than the actual shield.**
  • -Fixed a bug with Fernando where when he casted Fireball after using Shield, sometimes he would be unable to use his weapon.

Grohk

  • -Fixed a bug where Grohk’s Healing Totem indicator was creating red squares.
  • -Fixed a bug where Grohk’s totem placement indicator could appear during his ultimate.
  • -Addressed an issue where Wraith could cause Grohk to be unkillable if Ghost Walk was on cooldown.
  • -Addressed an issue that caused Grohk to be immune to death in unintended ways when the Wraith legendary was equipped.
  • -Reworded the description of Wraith to make it more clear.

Grover

  • -Fixed a typo in the description of Efflorescence

Jenos

  • -Fixed a bug where Jenos’s void grip was not interrupted by Polymorph.
  • -Fixed a bug with Binary Star where the card description indicated that the card did less damage than it actually did.

    • Justice Served: Now properly heals Lex upon killing his target

Lian

  • -Fixed a bug where interrupting Lian’s reload with her altfire (valor) would cause her to not reload but still let the player try to fire.

Maeve

  • -Fixed a bug where sometimes Maeve would respawn in the air.

Makoa

  • -Fixed a bug where makoa could falsefire after using Dredge anchor if he fired between 0.3 and 0.4s after pulling someone.
  • -Fixed a bug with Makoa’s Ancient Resolve card that caused his shell shield to last shorter than intended.
  • -Reworded the description of Leviathan to make it more clear.
